Change of plans and my kids are awesome

So that minivan? It'll be another 18 months before I get one.

My hubby and I have been chatting and are going to replace his car first. It took some convincing (because I was so excited about the minivan), but it really does make more sense to do it this way.

We're going to buy a used Chevy M.alibu. Our friend in the car business has it on her lot and is holding it for us. It's a steal of a deal. We may try to pay cash for it (thanks to our expected t.ax refund) and therefore eliminate one car payment altogether! Yee-haw!

The lease on the A.cadia is up in 18 months and my darling husband promises that we'll get the minivan then, Lord willing. So, I wait for that day with great anticipation. =)

I can't tell you how excited I'll be to be rid of that car. I mean, I do LOVE that car. It's a nice car. It's just ridiculously expensive and I don't know what we were thinking.

The simple fact is that we made some really short-sighted decisions with our car purchases in the past and sort of shot ourselves in the foot. We're dealing with the consequences now and it's been a good life lesson. Andy's car philosophy was always to buy new (something he says he inherited from his parents) and he was LOYAL to T.oyota and I never argued. In seven years his philosophy has changed a lot. Growing up is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

On an entirely different note, Lily learned about Minnesota at preschool today. On our way home she shared with me that the Lady's Slipper is our State Flower. And she declared that it is now her favorite flower. Because it's pink. =)

And this is totally random, but I wanted to write it down before I forget. I've been pregnant during a nice chunk of Lily's life and I try to avoid caffeine during pregnancy. Occasionally I drink S.prite and I had some today. She asked if she could have a drink of it and she called it Sprite.

Big deal, right?

It just hit me that she used to call is "Sprice Pop". And it's one of those cute little things that disappeared gradually and I didn't notice. And then today she called it by the correct name and I was reminded that she's growing up.

Taylor added another couple words to his vocab. Yesterday he and Lily were jumping. And Lily was saying "Jump!" with each jump. And he started to say it along with her. Only it sounds more like "jup" or "jop". It's pretty cute.

And this morning I was in the bathroom getting ready and he came in there telling me about something pretty earnestly. And I couldn't understand a word of what he was saying. And I asked him if he needed help. And he said, "hep!" and turned around and walked out expecting me to follow him.

And while Lily was at preschool this morning he and I were reading a few books. One of the books has a train with different color cars and I pointed to the purple car and said purple. To which he answered, "puhpooh".
