Another week gone by...
Taylor's personality is really blossoming. He is smiling so much more and is talking too. It's ADORABLE and so much fun!!! He's a pretty happy kid. He's found his fists and sucks on them if his pacifier isn't nearby. I think he'd like to suck his thumb but he hasn't figured out how to find it yet. On Sunday night he slept from 10:00 to 3:30 and that's his longest stretch yet! It was very exciting. He seems to sleep really well that first stretch after he goes to bed for the night, but after that it's a lot less consistent. Sometimes he'll go for another 3 hours before eating. And sometimes he hardly sleeps at all. So some morings I wake up feeling pretty well rested and other mornings not so much. :) But we're making progress.
My parents, aunt Shari and grandma Elaine were here to see us on Wednesday. It was a lovely visit. And that evening we celebrated grandma Irene's birthday with Andy's family. So my children saw four grandmas and two grandpas in one day! I say this all the time, but what a blessing to have our families close by. That night my parents took Lily to Minneapolis to stay with them for a few nights for the first time. It was absolutely weird around here without her - so quiet and empty. But she had a ball with my parents and it was nice to have Taylor to myself for a few days and do some mother/son bonding. I also tried to take advantage of having just one kid again and run some errands and do some shopping. I even took a little trip to the outlets at Albertville. Fun! Of course I bought nothing for myself and found great stuff for the kids.
On Saturday we had our fantasy football draft with the people in our small group - Gardners, Oettels, Weavers and Rekers. It's the first time we've had a fantasy league with them so it should be fun. The draft went well and I'm kind of excited about my team.
We also got to see my family briefly on Saturday when they brought Lily home. Mandi and Bryan were in the cities for the weekend so they came too! Sure do miss them.
On Sunday afternoon we had our fantasy draft with Zimmermans, Rysavys, Hokansons and Andy's brothers Mark and Erik. It's the 5th year that we've done this fantasy league with them. (I'm not as excited about my team in this league. Boo.) We spent the day together at Zimmy's parents' house and it was so much fun. We grilled hot dogs and burgers and everybody brought side dishes to share. They also have a pool so the daddies and kids had a great time swimming. Hokansons had a baby (this is #3 for them) on August 2nd and this was our first time meeting Isaac. He's such a cutie. The Zimmermans had a miscarriage last week and we're grieving their loss with them. They seem to be doing really well in spite of their sadness and they said hosting our get together on Sunday was fun for them and gave them something else to think about. Jennie continues to have some physical issues since the miscarriage so please be praying for her healing.
We spent Labor Day as a family. It was nice to have a relaxing day at home and I LOVE days that Andy has off of work. Especially with a newborn it makes such a difference having another adult around here. Lily loves having him home too. She's becoming quite the daddy's girl.
The potty training continues. Her sticker chart, which we started last week, is nearly full. She's doing pretty well and seems to really enjoy picking out a sticker and putting it on the chart. I was skeptical about it but I've learned my lesson. You just have to keep trying things until you find what motivates your child. #2 is still a challenge for her. She really doesn't want to do the big job on the potty. I know she'll figure it out eventually.
It's hard to believe that summer is winding down and school is starting up. Our Young Couples Ministry will be kicking off on Spetember 6th and we're looking forward to that. Also, MOMS will be getting underway. I have leadership meetings on the 9th and 16th and then our official launch date is the 23rd. I'm planing to lead a small group of high school girls again this year. There's a meeting for leaders tomorrow night so I'm looking forward to finding out what girls I'll have and what we'll be studying together.
Lily starts dance class tomorrow night! She's so excited!
So here are some pics from the week. If you're on facebook I uploaded lots more pics there.
