I spent the past couple days in the cities visiting my parents. Thursday morning I got a wild hair and decided to pack up the kids and drive to Minneapolis. An additional piece of motivation for me was that our power went out around 7:00 that morning and was still out when I left shortly after 11:00. It was starting to get cold in our house (53 degrees in our kitchen) and I had no interest in sticking around to see when it would come back on.
An unexpected bonus is that my sister and her hubby flew to the cities (he's a pilot) to spend the night at my parents' on their way to Rochester to visit Bryan's grandpa in the hospital. It was such a fun surprise to see them! Lily and I picked them up at the little St. Paul airport and got to watch them land which was really exciting!
We spent a couple of days at my parents' house doing not much and sometimes it's really nice not to have much to do!
Taylor wasn't feeling well and slept TERRIBLE while we were there. Which means I also slept terrible. So my parents expect me to take naps while I'm there. And I got a couple of really wonderful naps. Thank you, Jesus.
I know I talk about my mom and dad a lot. But they're so fun to be around and I'm just so thankful for their servant hearts and their involvement and influence in my children's lives. And mine!
Last weekend my parents came up here to visit for a day which we always enjoy. We usually do lunch and then hang out for awhile. And sometimes I run errands while they watch the kids. And sometimes they even send me and Andy on a date!
This last time they let me take a nap and cleaned while they were here! WHAT?! As if they don't already do enough my mom vacuumed our upstairs carpet and did some laundry and my dad vacuumed our steps! Vacuumed.our.steps. Wow. They have blessed my life in so many ways and continue to demonstrate their love for me in meaningful, relevant ways at this stage of my life - with two little kids, lack of sleep and a house to keep. I am so grateful! Thank you, mom and dad!!!
Here's a little video I caught of dad vacuuming the steps. Enjoy! Oh, and our power did come back on around 2 in the afternoon on Thursday. Nice.
Also, I'm sure you've noticed, but I've added a playlist to my blog. So make sure you scroll down and pause the music before playing the video. Thanks!
